Product Description
Kaspersky Internet Security provides comprehensive protection against various types of information security threats, network and phishing attacks, and spam. Kaspersky Internet Security includes various functions and protection components that ensure comprehensive protection.
Computer protection
Each type of threat is handled by a dedicated protection component. You can enable and disable protection components and configure their settings.
In addition to the real-time protection provided by the application’s security components, we recommend regular computer checks for viruses and other malware. This is necessary in order to exclude the possibility of the spread of malicious programs that were not detected by the protection components, because, for example, a low level of security was set for some reason.
To keep Kaspersky Internet Security up to date, you must update the application databases and modules used by the application.
Some occasional tasks (such as removing traces of user activity in the operating system) are performed through advanced tools and wizards.
Next, you will find a description of the logic on the basis of which the protection components work together when the Kaspersky Internet Security application is set in the mode recommended by Kaspersky Lab specialists (in other words, with the application’s default settings).
File Anti-Virus
File Anti-Virus prevents the computer’s file system from being infected. The component starts when the operating system starts and is then constantly active in the computer’s RAM, checking all files that are opened, saved or executed on the computer and all attached disks. Kaspersky Internet Security captures every attempt to access a file and checks it for known viruses and other malware. Further access to the file is allowed only if the file is not infected or if the application has successfully disinfected it. If the file cannot be sanitized for some reason, it is deleted. A copy of the file will be moved to the quarantine. If an infected file is placed in the location where a deleted file with the same name was previously placed, only a copy of the last file will be placed in the quarantine. A copy of the previous file with the same name will not be saved.
Mail Anti-Virus
The Mail Anti-Virus component scans all incoming and outgoing e-mail on your computer for viruses. The e-mail message will be available to the recipient only if it does not contain dangerous objects.
Web Anti-Virus
The Web Anti-Virus component detects and blocks the execution of scripts on websites if they pose a threat. The Web Anti-Virus component further monitors all web traffic and blocks access to dangerous websites.
IM Anti-Virus
IM Anti-Virus ensures safe use of IM clients. This component protects information that arrives on the computer through instant messaging (IM) protocols. IM Anti-Virus ensures the safe operation of various applications designed for quick messaging.
Application control
Application Control logs activities performed by applications in the operating system and manages application activities according to the group to which they were included. A set of rules is defined for each application group. These rules govern the access of applications to various resources of the operating system.
Application manager
The application manager allows you to manage the applications installed on your computer.
Webcam protection
The Webcam Protection component blocks unauthorized access to the webcam and notifies you when it is blocked.
Firewall
A firewall ensures security when using local networks and the Internet. This component filters all network activity using two types of rules: application rules and packet rules.
Network monitoring
The Network Monitor component is designed to monitor network activity in real time.
System Watcher
- exploit programs,
- screen locks,
- Encryption software that encrypts data
- Ransomware that encrypts data or blocks access to files or the system and demands a ransom to restore files or access them.
We recommend keeping this component active.
Blocking network attacks
Blocking network attacks starts when the operating system starts and monitors incoming network traffic for characteristic network attack activity. As soon as an attack attempt on your computer is detected, Kaspersky Internet Security blocks all network activity from the attacking computer directed at your computer.
Anti-Spam
Anti-Spam checks incoming email messages for spam. All messages that contain spam are marked with a special header.
Anti-Phishing
The Anti-Phishing component allows URLs to be scanned to see if they are listed as phishing URLs. This component is built into the Web Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, and IM Anti-Virus components.
Anti-Banner
The Anti-Banner component blocks advertising bars on websites and application interfaces.
Private browsing
The Private Browsing component detects requests sent by your browser to tracking services and can modify requests and responses from tracking services to protect you from tracking your online activity.
Financial protection
The Financial Protection component provides protection of confidential data when using Internet banking services and payment systems and prevents the theft of funds when paying online.
Secure data entry
The secure keyboard input function provides protection against keystroke tracking programs when entering personal data on websites. The on-screen keyboard prevents capture of data entered on a computer keyboard and protects personal data from attempts to capture it using screenshots.
Trusted Apps Mode
Trusted apps mode protects your computer from apps that may not be safe. If the trusted applications mode is enabled, Kaspersky Internet Security allows the launch of only those applications that are identified as trusted (for example, by application information in the Kaspersky Security Network service database or by a trusted digital signature).
Parental control
The Parental Control feature is designed to protect children and adolescents from threats associated with computer use and Internet browsing.
Parental control allows you to set flexible restrictions on access to web resources and applications for different users according to their age. In addition, parental control allows the display of statistical reports on the activities of controlled users.
My Kaspersky
If Kaspersky Internet Security is installed on a computer, you can manage the protection of such a computer remotely from the My Kaspersky portal.
Secure connection
Kaspersky Internet Security protects your data when connected to unprotected Wi-Fi networks.
